You never know what you will find at a yard sale.
I have a slight twinge of regret for not buying this work of art. Such a creative use of old refrigerator crisper trays.
I have no doubt that I could have found a use for this beauty, but this work of art had a price tag over $100 and I couldn’t work out exactly what I would use it for…. so I gave it a pass.
Of course now, as I look at the photos, I can think of many uses:
- Storing things like garden gloves and hand tools
- Plant labels
- My garden planning notebook
- Garden shoes (in the lower bins)
It would also look good outside with potted herbs on the top shelf. Oh well, even though I gave it a pass, it is fun to look back on the photos. I wonder if anyone bought it and what they are using it for.
Have you ever passed up something at a garage sale, estate sale or thrift store that you wish you would have bought?
Sincerely, Emily
That does look interesting but I would not have wanted to pay the price either! Nancy
I agree Nancy. I am not an impulsive shopper, but I did stand and admire it for a while (and take photos)
The trays look as if they are enamelware. That is all the rage here at the moment. Old pieces are selling for quite a sum at antique shops. Those big ones would fetch at least $50 here. A lot of restaurants are using enamel jugs for water.
It could have been a talking point but others might think it a pile of junk!! I think you made the right choice.
Hi Christine. Yes, they are enamelware. Interesting to hear how popular it is in your area and here I am, over here, posting a picture. It is such an interesting piece. I loved all the enamel refrigerator crisper drawers on it. I think I would have just liked to buy those. They certainly would come in handy carrying things around inside the house and out in the yard. That is what I was attracted to – memories I guess.
Dude, that thing is COOL! But yeah, not worth $100.
