I have zucchini. This is happiness to me.
The story is, I can’t seem to grow zucchini at all. The dang squash vine borers are horrible. So I out smarted them and planted zucchini in my neighbors garden.
Head over to Not Dabbling in Normal to read my post about my zucchini adventures.
Sincerely, Emily
So that’s the secret! 🙂
I guess it is and so far my plan is working. I have 6 zucchini on the counter!
Glad you got some zuchini to enjoy this year! My hubby does not like zuchini bread too much but I like to shred and freeze to add to things. I have made relish with it in the past but we don’t eat much relish either! I like it fresh sauteed! Nancy
Hi Nancy – any form of zucchini doesn’t last long around our house. We don’t use a lot of relish, but the one I do make goes great in place of mayo on sandwiches.
The main problem with zucchini is that one day they are the size of your finger and the next they could be used for an extra leg! I have been finding heaps of interesting recipes online for using up our prospective crop that we haven’t even planted yet! That’s how confident I am that zucchini’s will grace our table this year 🙂
Hi Fran – yes, finger to 3rd leg overnight. Keep your confidence. I kept mine through 3 years of squash vine borers. I just kept trying. Thanks to my neighbor, I have zucchini!
Ah, I’ll have tp try that next year. Squash vine borers, squash bugs, and cucumber beetles feasted on my zukes this year. Glad you’re enjoying it!
Hi Angela – nasty little things, aren’t they. The cucumber beetles I seem to be able to deal with, although I don’t like them one bit, One year I found a preying mantis out there making the most of it. She did good work with the cucumber beetles, but I didn’t see her this year. When I go out really early, the cucumber beetles are still moving slow and I squish them.
